6 Vegan Locations In London

After 2 years of being vegan, I thought it was about time I put together a little post of six of my favourite places to eat in London. This is by no means my absolute top choices (that would be far too difficult), but these are all 100% worth a visit. I hope to visit plenty more and do an updated list in the future, but for now, these deserve a mention.

   1. Mildreds (Camden, Kings Cross & Soho)

If I had to choose my absolute favourite restaurant in the world, it would be Mildreds. They currently have three restaurants in London and are ever-expanding! Though I’ve been several times, I’ve actually only tried two of the dishes: the classic burger and the Thai green curry. Seriously – once you’ve had the burger you’ll find it difficult to try anything else. Expect cheap-moderate prices (£12 for a burger, fries and mayo).

(sorry, couldn’t decide which burger pic was best!!)

   2. Veggie Pret (Soho & Shoreditch)

Though Pret a Manger is a chain that also sells meat, I have to give them a spot on this first blog post. They’ve saved me on so many long journeys; available in almost every airport, train station and high street and with more choice than a vegan could hope for, I just love Pret. There are now two branches specifically for vegans and vegetarians, and I pretty much went into shock when I tried the brownie and mac ‘n’ cheese. There aren’t many vegan options I haven’t tried yet, and not one has let me down so far. The mac ‘n’ cheese is now available in every store, too!

   3. Lola’s Cupcakes (EVERYWHERE!)

Another saviour on journeys through London. I usually pick up a Lola’s cupcake when I pass through St Pancras, but the store in Selfridges is also lovely and pretty plush. Once again, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to try anything other than the chocolate cupcake – it’s so darn good. But my dream is to buy the entire box of vegan offerings and make my way through them…

The Selfridges counter (bigger than all the others)

   4. Mae Deli – where I met Deliciously Ella! (Marylebone)

Possibly the most exciting of all, Deliciously Ella’s own Deli. I was lucky enough to spot her behind the counter when I visited and have a little (flustered) chat with her and even a photo. She was one of the reasons I went vegan in the first place and I love her recipe books which I use all the time. Austin was there, too! More importantly, the food was absolutely delicious and one of the slightly healthier options for us vegans in London. I believe this has now changed to the Weighhouse Street Deli.

   5. Temple of Seitan (Hackney & Camden)

One of my more recent adventures took me to this heavenly place. It’s a true fast food chain and probably about the most ‘unhealthy’ vegan food you’ll be able to find – and they’ve recently opened up their second branch! I basically got every single thing on the menu and it came to £25, and one of the things I love most about vegan food is you can stuff yourself with greasy food and you still don’t feel gross afterwards (wouldn’t recommend doing on the regular, though…)

   6. Redemption (Notting Hill, Shoreditch & Neals Yard)

Last but not least, I ate at the cosy (and costly!) Redemption in Notting Hill a few weeks ago. Last weekend I found myself in Neals Yard and my boyfriend had to practically drag me away from their branch there. I had a hot chocolate and their equivalent of pasta bolognese which were both lovely; I’d definitely go back.
